Mts. St. Helens and Rainier

I recall the day she blew her top like it was yesterday. Isn't is something how beautiful she looks today?

Be sure to click on the image to see the full-sized version of this photo that I took out the window of a plane (commercial) as we flew over the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Camano So Brightly

It appears we're going to have a fine day here on the island.

A Bright Spot in the Day

I know you're not supposed to look directly in to the sun but do you suppose it's okay if your camera does and then you look? Look at your own risk. No filters, no photoshop; just pure natural color.

Air Tussle

With just a quick glance out the window this morning, I was completely distracted by eagles flying in from every direction! By the time I got down to the canal there were more than eagles perched on the rocks. They were clearly in two separate groups and there were still eagles calling from the trees behind me. It was quite a sight to see.

This image is of the group on the South side of the entrance to the cove.

And this is the North side of the entrance. They may be difficult to spot in the rocks, but there are four in the lower portion of the rocks.

Whale Report and Pictures April 27

click to view full sized image

This gray whale was our visitor through the Saratoga Passage last night just before 7pm. We have had the privilege of seeing whales feed in this area many times before but I, personally, have never seen one this close to shore. In the last picture (above) you can see the pup barking somewhat frantically at the whale (that has just submerged by the pilings). It was really quite a funny scene. The whale fed for at least an hour, rolled around alot and even showed its tail several times. What a sight!

Ebey Everlasting

Ebey Everlasting
Ebey is a National Reserve on Whidbey island and also happens to be the nations first historical reserve. It is home to 400 historical buildings and also contains numerous working farms that provide acres of beautiful fields. It is truly a sight to be seen!

Whidbey's Pretty Pink Peony

Pretty Pink Peony
I was just wandering down another of our lovely Whidbey Island roads and found this beautiful peony waiting to have its picture taken. Lucky me!

The Mighty Gray

The Mighty Gray
This is one of our friendly neighbors just passing through the Saratoga Passage (between Whidbey Island and Camano Island). It is just another reason that Spring is one of my favorite times of the year!

This image is in honor of the "Welcome the Whales" day, taking place in Langley this weekend (4/24/10).

Bands of Beauty

Bands of Beauty
Mmmmm, you'll never guess where I've been! Every year I get giddy over the tulips. They are the same flowers that pop up every year and, year after year, I get just as excited to photograph them. There is just something about being in the middle of them that seems so arty. Maybe it's because it feels like I am smack dab in the middle of a huge palette of paint.

Meet Me at Sunrise

Meet Me at Sunrise is a photograph I took while holding the camera in one hand and a half-full cup of coffee in the other. I don't own a filter and the colors you see here are the same colors I saw that beautiful morning. So often, I am amazed and bedazzeled by the colors that appear before me in the morning's light. You will simply have to trust that beyond that misty bank of fog, lies Camano Island.

Blessings on Camano

Blessings on Camano is one of those photographs that took my breath away both when I was clicking the camera and when I was downloading the image. Sunrises here on the east side of Whidbey Island are a photographer's dream. Well, I guess that's assuming one can get up early enough to catch the dream. I was doing quite well until the clock got moved an hour in the wrong direction. Now it takes a bit more effort to get those sunrises. Hmmm, I wonder if the winter sunrises are better.
